OUR HIDDEN GOLDEN GIRLS

Girl Guides are a big part of the local community in Schull.

  • Local girl guides participated in Garretstown in a campout with
girls from all over Europe, in prep-aration for the Campa Le Cheile,
    July 7th - 14th

  • Local girl, Danielle Bray, makes an attempt at the 'Chief Commissioner Award'.
Paired participants are being dropped of at random with backpack and will need to hike and navigate from an unknown location to a predetermined finish point 5 days later. (pictures to follow) .

  • From July 7-14, the girls will participate in 'Campa Le Cheile'.

Campa Le Chéile is the 2007 International Camp of The Irish Girl Guides and are welcoming Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world to Ireland. 'Celebrating Cultural Diversity' will be the theme of the camp.

Through fun activities, games and trips, the girls will experience Ireland's colourful Medieval past, explore the rich Irish culture of today and celebrate the diverse cultural future of 21st Century Ireland.

The Camp will be held at Tattersalls, Ratoath, in beautiful County Meath. The Camp is a girls-only camp (sorry - no boys!) and the official language of the camp is English. The pronounciation of the Camp name is 'Camp-a-Le-Kay-la', which means 'Camping Together' when translated from the Irish language.
